PawMatch Success Stories

We're so happy to hear about how PawMatched animals are doing. For more photos of animals we have successfully adopted out, view our Success Stories Photo Gallery. Please send us stories and photos from your successful adoptions from PawMatch. We'd love to share them.

We adopted Sadie (formally Jenny) on May 19, 2007 in front of the PetsMart off of Brodie Lane. She has been a wonderful addition to our family and her three older sisters LOVE her. She had a few health complications at first but, she is a strong pup and now she couldn't be better. We cannot imagine our lives without her.

The first picture is when we first rescued Rebel he was 6 weeks old. When we first got him he had dermatitis so he had several bald spots. Now he is 7 months old and you can't even tell he had dermatitis. He is the best pup ever.

Beau

I adopted a little German Shepard mix Sunday April 15, 2007. His name at the time was "Bailey". We have changed his name to "Beau". He is very happy here, my daughter loves him dearly.

Lindsey Thompson

I bought "Huey" as a Christmas puppy for my boyfriend, Matt. Many accidents on the carpet, a few chewed up shoes, and over 25 lbs of growth later, I have no doubt he was the best choice for Matt. Their respect and love for each other just seems to grow more every day.

Nicky is really sweet and we are enjoying having her in our home. She just came on in and got comfy. No problem getting settled in. She has a huge garden window that we put her bed in and she loves sleeping there at night or sitting during the day and watching the birds.

She loves the toys we bought at Petsmart for her and keeps us entertained chasing them! And she and our current cat, Peeps, are adjusting to each other nicely. I know they will soon be good friends. Thanks for caring for these animals. Nicky is currently walking all over my computer desk while I try to type this!
Sincerely,

Laura Morrisey

P.S. I caught the 2 cats today sitting on the window in my room together looking out at the birds. Have not seen them do this before. Tonight they were playing chase in the den together so I am glad because now I know they are going to keep each other company when no one else is here! And she went to the vet today and got an A+ except for ring worm on her ear. We noticed this small sore on her ear when we took her home from Petsmart, but forgot to ask the volunteer about it. So we have medicine for her ear and worm medicine for her. Thanks again.

To Pawmatch and Holly,
I was adopted on mother's day weekend in 2006. (I'm a shepherd/retriever mix - I think I will be three on my birthday in May.) This mom and her daughter came to look at the dogs and I was laying under the van. I had it all planned, when the mom bent down to pet me, I put one of my paws on her shoulder, I could tell I had found a home. I joined the family of our dad, son and daughter, and two miniature schnauzers.
I sometimes go back and visit Holly, she always likes to see me but is happy I have a happy home to live in. I love chasing squirrels (Encore taught me that), going on walks, and really like counter surfing, but mom is working on changing that one.
I just wanted to say thank you, I love my family, all 16 legs of them! Thank you Holly, I miss you, but I love it here!

Jonah (I was Sydney) Michael

Update: Just sending some pictures of Thurgood for your website. He's doing fantastic, if you could pass that information on to Jamie, I would really appreciate it. (Jamie knows Thurgood as Spottie).

Hello, My name is Jayson, last Friday my Uncle Chris and myself adopted a two year old Beagle mix, named Spottie. I wanted to write to give you and Jamie an update. First off we have re-named Spottie to Thurgood. It's from one of my favorite movies, Halfed Baked. I chose that name because the main character, Thurgood Jenkins is a very laid back dude, and that was the impression I got from the dog. When my Uncle Chris and I first met Thurgood, he was scared, and timid, but sweet. After the paper work was complete, we took Thurgood on a walk through the Petsmart, he started to warm up to us. Well now five days later, he is a brand new dog! Thurgood has really take a shine to us, and the rest of the family. He loves to chew on socks, and tennis balls. We are starting obedience training, which he is doing very well in. We all look forward to a long and loving relationship. Thanks Paw Match, we will send some pictures very soon. Good luck in all of your endeavors!

Cooter photo

We adopted Cooter from the PETCO in Round Rock because he seemed to be excellent with my five children and was very well mannered! When we got him home, he was such a pleasant surprise. He obviously was house broken and took well with our large family! Cooter is a precious addition to our family. We just love him.......he is an awesome companion!

Gracee photo

I adopted Gracee, formerly Dee Dee, at the PetSmart at Brodie Lane about 4 months ago and I have never been happier!! She has made me laugh so many times and we have become inseparable. She went through training at PetSmart and she has turned out to be a WONDERFUL dog. Just wanted to thank ya'll for letting Gracee be a part of my life and saving the lives of many animals....I attached a picture of Gracee playing in the "ICE STORM 2007."
Thanks again,

Ashley

Satin photo

I adopted a black cat named "Satin" from one of your adoption drives at PetSmart at Lakeline Drive this past Thursday. I was only at the store to buy cat food for my other cat, whom I adopted last month from the Austin Humane Society. I knew I wanted a 2nd kitty, I just wasn't expecting to adopt one so soon. I met one of your workers, a woman named Claire, who recommended the cat Satin when I said I would need a pretty calm kitty to go with my already calm cat. Satin, who is now called "Emma", is the sweetest thing. I simply adore her. She settled in right away (with us, but she's still working on her relationship with our other cat) and has already set up camp every night at the foot of our bed. She is so sweet and affectionate with so much love to give, she enjoys every second she's cuddled and petted. She is already well on her way to becoming a very pampered kitty and I can't help but spoil her rotten. You don't have to worry about lil' Satin anymore, I couldn't part with my Emma for anything. Thank you so much for introducing me to this wonderful cat. I'll make certain she spends the rest of her days living like a queen! :o)

Foster Kitty Doing Well: The following letter and photos are from one of the first PawMatch cat foster families, who wanted to save a cat or kitten who was in the most need of help! When PawMatch received Cyclops, we were not sure she would live. But thanks to a wonderful foster home, she recovered and they decided to make her a permanent part of their family.

Cyclops photo 1 Cyclops photo 2

Cyclops photo 3 I'm attaching your old picture of Alani (formerly Cyclops) and some new pics of her. When we adopted her we wanted to adopt a kitty who was most in need of some help. When we got her Alani had an upper respiratory infection, a bad case of ringworm, an eye infection, ear mites, round worms, and a membrane had grown over her eye due to her sickness. It took a lot of time, work and patience, but finally we got all the worms and infections cleared up and she recently had surgery on her eye. As you can see from her new pics she is now doing GREAT! She has made a wonderful addition to our family.
Thanks!

Jennifer

Rocky photo 1 Rocky photo 2

I just wanted to update you on Rocky. He is doing very well. He loves his new home. most of the nights. Richard and I take him for rides and walks as often as I can. I have no problems with him. He sleeps in my room. I will send more when I get them. Here are some pictures. Will let Holly know that Rocky is doing awesome. I am so glad he is part of our family now.

China photo 1 China photo 2

Thank you for the card. China or "Mia" as we call her now is doing great. She is one happy little girl. She loves her new little brother, Austin. I was anxious to see if they would get along and if they would at all. But since the first day they have been inseparable. They love to chase each other around the yard and cuddle at night. I am so glad that I found Mia that day. She has put a smile on my family's face every day from the first day. She is a ball of energy and a big teddy bear. We take her running every morning and every evening so she pus that energy to good use. I attached a picture of her playing with her Austin and one of her attempting to sleep in his bed. I couldn't stop laughing when I woke up and saw her big butt hanging out of his little bed. Thank you for bringing our angel to us.

Scooter photo

Here's Scooter—please post these on the web. He's really come out of his shell and feels a ton better. Scooter enjoys playing tag and running around with his 2 foster sisters. We're working on potty training, sitting, and shaking paws. Scooter has a lot of energy and would love a big backyard. Pictures are taken 8/15/06.
Thanks,

Heather

Chickpea photo

We just adopted Chick Pea, A.K.A. Goat Killer but, she responds to chick chick. I just wanted to say thank you so much for our little baby! She's such a little goofball! We all love her SO much! She hasn't killed many goats lately but she did terrorize a paper towel last Sunday. Her new best friend is Luke. He's 8 months old, adopted, and totally in love with her. She's a total lap dog. She LOVES to ride in the truck. She's a Ford dog all the way. She can't stay off your lap and she loves to go outside. She has a love hate relationship with cats, she loves them, but for some reason, they hate Her. She's always happy and she is such a little flirt. Anyway, Thanks again for helping me find my puppy love.

Here are some photos of Pearl (formerly Kalanu), happily adopted by John & Sara. We're told she's hard to photograph as she doesn't hold still very long. ;-)

Here is a photo of PawMatched puppy, Munchie, "sharing" her toy.

Lainey photo

Thank you so much for the sweet note expressing your concern over our adoption of Squishy—now called Lainey— and her being diagnosed with Parvo. Never did we feel that PawMatch concealed or had any idea of this terrible disease. Never did we personally feel that Lainey had any other choice but to have the chance to fight, by whatever means available to us, for survival. PawMatch stood by our sides and Holly Livermore shed tears with me over the initial shock of the news. We have true admiration for those of you who represent PawMatch and thank you for your care, efforts and desire to place so many precious animals.

The general public sometimes seems to forget that adoption of an "animal family member" is equivalent to delivery or adoption of a child—no health guarantees. Things happen! The goal to adoption for a family pet should be to obtain the animal that will love and be loved. You now owe this animal protection and it will give so much more back to you.

My heart still bleeds for the other cage mates that my husband and I could not afford to save. But, I have to look at our little catahoula puppy that has survived and is spoiled absolutely rotten. We now joke and call her our $1,300 dollar baby! We would do it all again!
Thank you all,

Craig and Susan Edwards

P.S. Here is a cute picture of Lainey and her 2-year-old French bulldog brother, Mardi.

Bevo photo

When we lost our beloved Brina to lymphoma earlier this year, I wasn't sure I'd ever be able to find such a wonderful dog for our family again... but I was wrong. After looking around shelters for a few weeks and meeting several dogs with no luck, we came upon a PawMatch adoption at Petco in Round Rock. The people working the adoptions were all very nice and gave lots of info to potential adopters about all of the dogs. I was very impressed with what I saw going on.

We met "Tina" and fell in love! My son has renamed her Bevo... yes, a girl named Bevo, but hey, we're in Austin! Her nighttime crate/potty training is going well and hopefully soon she'll be able to sleep freely in our bedroom at night without having to worry about accidents. She is pretty laid-back for a puppy, which was a pleasant surprise, but enjoys going for walks, playing in the yard with my 3 year old son and trying to get the cat to play with her! :) We start training next week with our previous dog's trainer, but plan to use the lesson that came with the adoption as well (a great perk by the way...). Thanks so much for helping us find our new companion Bevo... she is just perfect for us!

Cosmo photo

Cosmo & Smiley are now inseparable. He's still a little skittish around humans but we're working on that. He seems to like women more than men. He's crazy, hyper and a keeper. He's now part of the family.

We have yet to name our newest addition. He is delightful fun and has already brought us lots of smiles! We still miss our Honey very much, but this little guy is quickly making himself a place in our hearts (and our beds!)! Thank you for helping us to once again find the perfect puppy for our family! You are doing wonderful work and we appreciate all your efforts on our behalf! We'll keep in touch!

Kiko photo

I just wanted to say that I LOVE KIKO SOOOO MUCH!! He was so good last night...went to the door to potty, ate a full bowl of food, sleep right next to me ALL night, and woke me up with kisses to take him outside. I have never been more excited about a sweet kiddo as I am with Kiko. I am truly blessed to have him in my home. I will email pics to you soon. I'm taking him to Townlake today for a walk and to play with the other kiddos that are out and about. Thank you again so much. Have a wonderful day! :)

Ginger photo

Joe and I adopted Ginger (formerly Goldie) New Year's weekend. Ginger headed out to lounge at the Hotel San Jose her first night and has kept a busy social calendar since! She just finished up her second heartworm treatment and has very happily returned to a full play schedule with her fluffy partner in crime, Buster. Ginger definitely found her forever home. Thanks PawMatch!

Queenie/Sweetie photo 1 Queenie/Sweetie photo 2

Here are some pics of Queenie/Sweetie Pie. I don't know if you remember her, we got her around the middle of Feb. All she would do is belly up,well she has completely come out of her shell. We are having some problems with her chewing everything in sight to include the couch. We are doing a training class with Nancy but will definitely need more then 6 weeks. All in all she is doing well and we are very happy with her.
Thanks and take care!

Hunter photo

Here's some photos and a little blurb on our new best friend. "Hunter" was adopted by our family one week before Christmas. His 3 new siblings (pictured with him in the photo) renamed him "Duncan". At times he's more appropriately called "Sir Duncan" (when he's winning a game of tug-a-war) or "Slam Duncan" (when he's flying through the air to catch a ball) and occasionally, when he's in a very silly mood and chasing his tail with excitement, he's more appropriately referred to as "Duncan Donut"!

He has turned out to be the perfect fit for our family which includes three children, one 15-year-old beagle and two cats. He seems to regard every one of us, two legged or four, canine or feline, old or young, as his very best friend. We would like to thank Pawmatch for their mission and for bringing Duncan into our lives!

Anna photo

I wanted to send an update on Anna, an 18-month-old Anatolian Shepherd mix my parents adopted 6 weeks ago outside the Brodie Lane Petco. My parents are an elderly couple who live right behind my husband and I, our 2 kids and dog Gretta. We share yards and thought it would be a good home for Anna. She is adapting pretty well. She is a beautiful and sweet dog.we LOVE her! Nancy is helping us through some training issues so that she can be more manageable for my parents. Anyway. I thought you might want to see some pictures. Please share them with Mac McGregor.he was so helpful in adopting Anna and he continues to be an informative and friendly resource.
Thanks for all you do!!!

Dear Pawmatch,
It was love at 1st sight. Once PawMatch's Mac and very nice man w/ an English accent pointed me to the black lab under the van who was trying to stay cool—I knew she was the one! It was Sept.9, 2005 when "Tigger" came into my life. I immediately called my husband to come by the Petco off of Brodie Lane in Sunset Valley. And when he met her, he too knew it was a MATCH made in heaven. The 1st thing we came to know about "Tigger" was she was so sweet. She walked nicely on a leash and was so kind. We thought a name change was in order. "Tigger" became Sweetpea. We knew why she was originally called "Tigger" because of her 4 ft. vertical leaps, but we loved the name Sweetpea for her because she was so eager to please and so happy to find our home. Thank you PawMatch and everyone involved—we love our little Sweetpea.

Lilly photo

I'm forwarding a couple of pictures of our newly adopted puppy, "Lilly," whose name we have since changed to "Princess." Note how happy Leah is holding her new baby! For the entire long weekend, Leah has doted on Princess like a first-time Mom. She cuddles with her when she sleeps or rests, she takes her for long walks in the neighborhood, she fills her water and food bowls regularly and practices potty training, she places her many chew toys around her (wherever she goes), supervises her when she goes outside to meet her new neighbors and our older dog, Pooka, and basically watches her every move! Leah told me that "Princess" was the best gift she had ever, ever gotten—even better than a trampoline!

I've given "Princess" a nickname, "Lucky," because every dog should be so lucky to have Andy and Pawmatch working to find it a special home. We love our Lucky Princess, and thank Andy and Pawmatch for bringing us together!

Fondly,

Lynne and Leah Hook
